$325,000 raised for medical clinics

Spring Break 2010, Serotonin Surge CharitiesÕ sixth annual fundraiser for safety net medical care in the greater Sacramento region, was held at the Arden Hills Resort Club & Spa on Friday, April 16. More than 400 people gathered to learn more about safety net clinics while sampling gourmet foods, sipping fine wines, gulping refreshing beer, bidding on eclectic auction items, and enjoying a lively fashion show that one world traveler proclaimed was better than any he had ever seen in Paris or Milan.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors, guests and volunteers, we were able to raise $325,000 for a network of more than 20 recipient clinics that provide more than 125,000 clinic visits per year to patients who are medically uninsured or underinsured. In the midst of a depressed economy, our ability to surpass last yearÕs fundraising total by $30,000 can only be explained by a critical mass of concerned citizens refusing to let our society turns it back on our neighbors in their time of greatest need.

Our eventÕs honored guest was Davis resident Pat Fry, president and CEO of Sutter Health, who was recognized for his long-standing and generous support of clinics and programs that create access to health care for the most vulnerable members of our communities.

Event sponsors included Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, the UC Davis Health System, Mercy/CHW, Epic, the Aetna Foundation, SAFE Credit Union, Mikuni, Kaneski Associates, Securitas, the Kaiser Permanente Asian Association, Sacramento Magazine, Bashore Design, Ellis & Ellis, Glenda Fox Photography, Capital Public Radio, Sacramento & Company/News10 and SmallBizWebsites.net.

Food, wine and beer were donated by Arger-Martucci, the Astoria Wine Group, Chocolate Fountains Delite, Courtyard Marriott-Cal Expo, DiandaÕs, Fiddlehead Cellars, Heringer Estates, MatteoÕs, Mikuni, Pendroncelli, Seavey Vineyards, Senders Wines, Silver Oak Cellars, Spoto Wineries, Spoto Wines, Sudwerks, Supper Club, Whitehall Lane and Yorba Wines. Fashion show clothing was provided by Patrick James, Serendipity Boutique and The Wardrobe.

Please visit our website at http://www.serotoninsurge.org for event photos and more information about the numerous benefactors, patrons, VIPs, auction donors and planning team members whose generous contributions made Spring Break possible. If you would like to find out more about how you can help provide health care for all members of our communities, watch our website video titled Health Care for All or contact [email protected]
