Thirty-nine seniors at Davis High School have been named as Commended Students in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. has been presented to these scholastically talented seniors.
Commended students are Peter Aumann, Adam Berk, Caroline Blair, Dean Braeman, Amanda Chen, Deanna Cheng, Jiangcheng Chu, Maxine Chui, Ryan Clark, Selene Clay, Claire Finn, Elspeth Fullerton, Kayla Gibson, Giuliana Gilbert-Igelsrud, Lauren Glazer, Virginia Hartz, Brandon Hassid, Stephen Hill, Kristy Hoe, Abin Huang, Emily Iskin, Jennyn Jefferson, Kabir Jensen, Tomas Johnson, Esther Koo, Emily Kratzer, Megan Li, Felicia Lin, Raymond Liu, Matthew Lundgren, Alexandra Miller, Sneha Pandey, Kaitryn Ronning, Stefan Seritan, Andrea Setiawan, Elena Thomsen, Xunyi Wang, Matthew Yee and Mimi Yu.
About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2011 competition for merit scholarships, commended students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2011 competition by taking the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
