The Davis Musical Theatre Company production of ÒCrazy for YouÓ opens Friday and continues through July 11 at the DMTC Performing Arts Center, 607 Pe–a Drive, Davis.
Curtain times are 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:15 p.m. Sundays.
The production stars Joseph Boyette as Bobby Child, a stage-struck New York playboy who is sent to a depressed small Nevada town to close down its local theater. Bobby soon falls in love with the theater ownerÕs daughter, Polly (Dani Hansen). In the grand old tradition of musical theater, Bobby decides to put on a show in order to raise money and save the place.
The Tony Award-winning musical features a wealth of songs by George and Ira Gershwin, and a book by Ken Ludwig.
ÒCrazy for YouÓ opened Feb. 19, 1992, and was an immediate hit, running for 1,622 performances. It was nominated for numerous Tony Awards that year, and took top honors as best musical; it also won for costume design and choreography.
