Joe Krovoza is a real talent

You get to know someone well when you work with them, and I have had the pleasure of working with Joe Krovoza for the past six years. In his position as director of external relations and development for the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies and Energy Efficiency Center, I have seen Joe develop partnerships and foster collaborations that have enhanced our unitsÕ mission as an independent voice in clean transportation and energy-efficiency issues.

He has raised funds for specific research projects, for endowed chairs, for graduate student fellowships and for consortia that allow for a leveraging of funds. And thanks to Joe, our units have a diverse funding base allowing us to fare much better than others during these tough budgetary times.

Beyond that, Joe is a fantastic colleague. He is a picture of positivity, bringing a smile to the office every day and treating everyone equally, whether it is a high-level industry executive, a government official or an undergraduate student assistant. He takes his job seriously, but doesnÕt take himself too seriously. He is a real talent and there are countless faculty, students, staff and research partners who have benefited from JoeÕs on-campus efforts.

There are many who have benefited from JoeÕs off-campus efforts, too. From his work on the Putah Creek Council, to planting trees in his neighborhood park, to serving as coach of his daughtersÕ soccer teams (11 times) and to founding the Davis Bicycles! column in The Enterprise, Joe has gone above and beyond the standard level of community service. And like he does at the office, Joe has done so with enthusiasm and a smile.

I fully expect Joe to bring his positive attitude and level-headedness to the council and for that, my wife Stephanie and I heartily endorse his candidacy.
