Local pianist Ken Kemmerling has begun playing the 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday cocktail shift at KetMoRee Thai Restaurant and Bar, 238 G St., Davis.
Kemmerling has a long musical history in Davis. On Oct. 19, 1979, he joined Ann Marie Ziomek, Rod Macdonald, Tom Harter, Julie Partansky and many others to open the Blue Mango Cooperative Restaurant and Coffeehouse. Kemmerling was part of a jazz combo Ñ joined by Partansky, David Carey and Tom Arons Ñ that performed opening night. He played on a piano that Partansky donated.
ÒAnd on which I first learned to fake the standards,Ó Kemmerling said, with a grin.
Kemmerling also played at The Paragon (now FroggyÕs) in 1986 and Õ87, during its brief era as a piano bar, and at SacramentoÕs Alhambra Fuel & Transportation Co. (1988-91).
