Ready for Italy

The Davis High School Madrigal Choir Ñ including, from left, Isaac Bunch, Lisa Walters, Patrick Hollard, Kathleen Johnston, Will Delacorte, Aly Tsui and Brad Soler Ñ will present an ÒItaly Tour 2010Ó concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1017 11th St., Sacramento. The selections will include works that the ensemble plans to sing during its tour of Italy in July, during performances at the Sistine Chapel and St. PeterÕs Basilica. The program, featuring sacred music from the Renaissance through the modern age, will include compositions by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Maurice Durufle, Eric Whitacre and many others. Admission is free, and the public is welcome. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door, and funds will help support the trip to Italy.
