River Cats break skid

ROUND ROCK, Texas Ñ Dallas McPhersonÕs tie-breaking, three-run homer in the top of the fifth propelled the Sacramento River Cats past the Round Rock Express, 5-1, on Tuesday night at The Dell Diamond.

The River Cats (63-55) ended a three-game skid, while the Express (49-69) saw their four-game winning streak snapped.

In the decisive fifth, SacramentoÕs Corey Wimberly walked and later moved to third on Travis BuckÕs one-out double. McPherson followed with his 14th home run of the season on the first pitch of the at-bat.

That made a winner of River CatsÕ starter Bobby Cramer (1-0), who allowed one run on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts over five innings. Justin James retired the gameÕs final seven batters with three strikeouts for his first save.
