I support for the proposed Berryessa Snow Mountain National Conservation Area. I am a student at UC Davis. Besides my interest in the area from my environmental studies, I also care deeply about the area from a place of my youth.
I was raised in and around the Berryessa Snow Mountain Region in a logging family. I learned at a young age that this area has the ability to support and give, but that we must also give back and maintain the area to continue such a vital relationship between nature and people.
My first memorable experiences as a child are of being in the area and learning about legumes from my grandfather, and the connection of such a small and delicate plant to the overall ecosystem health.
The environment of the Berryessa Snow Mountain Area gives a peace and clarity that cannot be found in other aspects of life. Time spent in the outdoors has taught me leadership, and problem-solving skills that help me with everyday life. I now have the wonderful opportunity to share these environmental experiences with other youths.
I have seen the immense difference can have on oneÕs life and protecting wild places helps us all.
The Berryessa Snow Mountain Region is a key component to future generations and accomplishments and should be protected as a National Conservation Area.
