The band Yolo Mambo Ñ from left, Phil Summers, guitar; Catherine Leblanc, vocals; Carla Campbell, percussion; and Steve OÕNeil, bass Ñ will perform during this weekÕs Picnic in the Park festivities, taking place from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Davis FarmersÕ Market, Fourth and C streets, Davis. The band is known for a rich blend of acoustic world music and jazz, performed in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English. ChildrenÕs entertainment will include pony rides from Pony Ranch Parties, the Rocknasium climbing structure, the bouncing bungalows, face-painting, and balloon-making with Dilly Dally the clown. Craft booths line the north end of the park, and the Davis Food Co-op will give cooking demonstrations under the pavilion. Spring produce is in full swing Ñ cherries, peaches, apricots, strawberries, asparagus, snap peas, snow peas, bok choy, greens, lettuces, carrots and herbs Ñ and the market also is filled with free-range eggs, flowers, fresh juices, dried fruit, jams, nuts, baked goods, honey and more. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy a variety of barbecued and ethnic dinner items at the International Food Faire and a cool drink from the Soroptimist beer and wine booth.
