BRIEFS: Bid August farewell at local winery

The Pleasant Valley Boys will perform from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, during Rominger West WineryÕs Òlast Saturday of the monthÓ festivities, at 4602 Second St., Davis.

The band performs in a manner that evokes the 1940s, including period dress and vocals delivered into a single microphone. The ensemble features Matt Dudman, mandolin; George Goodell, banjo; Jenny Lynn, guitar; Jim Allison, fiddle; and Mark ÒCousin RainwaterÓ Eagleton, string bass.

Dixon hosts annual Wine and Art Stroll

DixonÕs eighth annual Wine and Art Stroll will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the cityÕs downtown core area.

Roughly two dozen wineries will participate, along with the same number of artists. Live music will be presented by the Matty T. Band, known for its tasty blend of rock and blues.

Adult patrons purchase a glass, which allows them to sample wines that will be available at different businesses in DixonÕs downtown area. Advance tickets, at $15, includes a commemorative wine glass and a tasting map. Tickets at the gate will be $20.

We all scream for Crystal ice cream

Crystal Ice CreamÕs annual end-of-summer family extravaganza will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive, Sacramento.

The cowboy-themed ÒHow the West Was FunÓ will feature live music by the Bobby McDowell Band, the Loose Acoustic Trio and the Sweet Adeline barbershop quartet.

Patrons are encouraged to dress in western duds. Advance tickets Ñ $15 general, $5 children (3-12) Ñ are available at (916) 808-7462 . Tickets at the door will be $20 and $10.

Scottish folksinger performs in Davis

Scottish folksinger Isla St. Clair will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Davis Musical Theatre Company performance center, 607 Pe–a Drive, Davis.

St. Clair, one of ScotlandÕs foremost singers, is known to millions in Britain for her numerous television appearances.

Advance tickets, at $20, are available from the Dixon Scottish Cultural Association, P.O. Box 561, Dixon, CA 95620. Tickets at the door will be $22.

Woodland museum throws a party

The Gibson Historical Museum will celebrate its renovation with a party taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 512 Gibson Road, Woodland.

Tours of the newly redecorated museum will be given.

Entertainment will be provided by Rick Spencer, singing tunes of villains, outlaws and rogues; trip roper and whip master James Berrera, who will share the saga of Joaquin Murrietta, the ÒMexican Robin HoodÓ; fiddler and folksinger David Rainwater; dancer Cheyenne Danner; and Folklorico Latino de Woodland.
