BRIEFS: ChildrenÕs Chorale seeks new members

Auditions for the Davis ChildrenÕs Chorale will be held through Monday.

The ensemble is divided into three sections, from Level 1 (inexperienced) and Level 2 (experienced, 8-11 years old) to Level 3 (12-14 years old). Rehearsals take place on Mondays and Wednesdays at Davis Community Church, 412 C St.

Parents of interested children should schedule an audition with chorale director Rachel Day Kessler, at (530) 756-3807.

Massive cornfield maze opens for fun!

Cool Patch Pumpkins opens its Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze today, for a season that continues through Nov. 7 at 8550 Currey Road (or 8700 Sievers Road), Dixon.

The Guinness World Record-breaking corn maze covers 45 acres.

Children will enjoy a corn bath, straw mountain and kid-oriented straw maze, all for $3.

Admission to the full-size Corn Maze is $10 general, $6 youths; children under 5 are free.

Pianist gives solo classical recital

Pianist I-Hui Megumi Chen will give a recital at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Davis Community Church, 412 C St., Davis.

The program will include Frederic ChopinÕs Ballade No. 1, opus 23; J.S. BachÕs Partita No. 1, BWV 825; Claude DebussyÕs ÒClair de LuneÓ; and several other works.

Local trio takes the VetsÕ Memorial stage

The local band Tree-O will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the VeteransÕ Memorial Theatre, 203 E. 14th St., Davis.

The band Ñ Rick Palkovic, Jamie Knapp and George Haver Ñ celebrated the release of its debut album last fall.

Advance tickets, at $8, are available at the Community Services Office, Armadillo Music and The Avid Reader. Tickets at the door will be $10

Wine benefit helps Clarksburg library

The 22nd annual ÒWines of ClarksburgÓ benefit will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday on the tree-shaded grounds of the former headquarters of the Holland Land Company, 36533 Netherlands Road, Clarksburg.

The event will feature food, live music, an art auction and 18 wineries.

Advance tickets, at $40, are available at (916) 775-4653 or (916) 744-1755. Tickets at the door will be $50. All funds raised will help support the Clarksburg Library.

Community Church resumes concerts

Davis Community Church will begin its annual concert series at 4 p.m. Sunday, with a program of Ònouveau flamencoÓ by guitarist Todd Haaby and his band, Sola Via.

The performance will take place at the Davis Community Church Sanctuary, 412 C St. A suggested donation of $10 will be requested at the door.
