Dear Davis:
After just three days in your fair city, I am having to force myself to remember the fine staff at the local hotel we chose, the patient and helpful staff at the Shields Library, Special Collections, the UC Davis Police Department and the students at UCD who repeatedly directed a couple of Òold fogeys.Ó
Otherwise, I would have to remember the person(s) who broke the window of our car to steal CDs and clothing Ñ not of much value except the patches on the Pony Express RiderÕs vest my husband planned to wear in the upcoming 150th anniversary re-ride Ñ and the person(s) who picked up our digital camera at the hotel and kept it instead of turning it in at the desk.
The camera is of some value, but not compared to the disc it contained. Most of the images were already downloaded at home, but the pictures I took on campus evidently are more important to you than to me; why is a mystery.
Anyway, thanks to the fine citizens of Davis who made our stay comfortable and happy, and a big phhhtt to those who tried to ruin it!
