NAMI-Yolo announces the return of Tom Wootton as a guest speaker at its monthly potluck dinner meeting from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Wootton, widely sought nationwide as a speaker on bipolar disorder, addressed the organization\’s annual mental health dinner in February 2008.

Mental health consumers, family members and interested local residents are welcome at the free meeting, which takes place in the César Chávez housing complex conference room, 1220 Olive Drive, Davis. César Chávez is next to Lexington Apartments on the south side of Olive Drive and east of Richards Boulevard. The conference room is in the office building at the end of the parking lot.

Wootton\’s talk is titled “From Bipolar Disorder to Bipolar In Order.”

“Never let anyone tell you to accept a diminished view of your life,” he says.

A San Francisco resident, Wootton is the author of three books: “Bipolar In Order: Looking at Depression, Mania, Hallucination and Delusion From the Other Side” (2010), “The Bipolar Advantage” (2005) and “The Depression Advantage” (2007).

A potluck dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and the program follows at 7:30. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share if they can, but all are welcome even if they can\’t. Those with last names beginning with A-H are asked to bring a salad, I-P a dessert and Q-Z a main dish.
