WEDDING: Sovero-Khan
Hanna Valpuri Sovero of Zurich, Switzerland, and Muhammad Awais Khan of York, England, were married on Jan. 15, 2010, at the Register Office in York, England.
The bride is the daughter of Anneli and Matti Sovero of Davis.
A 1999 Davis High School graduate, she graduated from UC San Diego in 2004. She is working on her doctorate in plant biology at the University of Zurich, and is due to finish in September.
The groom is the son of Sudaghar Jan and Muhammad Feroze Khan of Tahlian, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan.
He received his bachelorÕs degree in 2001 at the University College of Agriculture in Pakistan, his masterÕs degree in 2003 at Georg-August University in Germany and his doctorate in 2007 at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland.
He is a research scientist at the University of York in England.
The best man was Ishtiaq Khaliq, the groomÕs friend since university. The brideÕs parents were the only other guests and witnesses at the ceremony.
The reception took place at the Stonegate Yard in York, England, with about 30 guests.
The couple honeymooned in Northern Ireland.
The groom still lives in York, England, and the bride in Zurich, Switzerland, but both will be moving to Champaign-Urbana, Ill., by autumn.
