YOUTH HOCKEY: Extreme teams dominate tournament

The Davis NorCal Extreme Roller Hockey U10 boys team, went 3-0 at the Sierra Inline Hockey League tournament in Antioch last weekend.

\n

In its first game, Davis faced the Delta River Rats and the game finished in a 4-4 tie. Sam Blakewell\’s defense held the Rats to only four goals, while he and Cole Skoog scored one goal each and Jack Shields netted two.

\n

Game 2 was another close match with Extreme defeating the Stockton Jr. Thunder, 5-4. Nick Blakewell led the scoring with a hat trick, while Alexander Larsen and Shields scored one apiece.

\n

The final match, against the Sonora Hawks, saw Davis win a close one, 4-3. Nick Blakewell scored the final goal of the game off an assist from Gabriel Lee. Additional goals were made by Skoog and Sam Blakewell. Goalie Max Muller pulled off two saves to secure the win.

U12 Extreme

\n

The Davis NorCal U12 boys team went 3-0 with two shutouts at the Sierra Inline Hockey League tournament.

\n

In its first game against the Livermore Vipers, Davis came out ahead, 8-0. Brandon Pacciorini scored the first two goals of the game, while defensemen Joe and Sam Blakewell and goalie Nicholas Leacox held down the Vipers.

\n

Next, Davis once again shut out their opponents, the Sonora Hawks, by a score of 6-0. Miguel Witham and Dylan Lee led the offensive charge with a combination of four goals, while the Blakewell brothers and Leacox were again able to handcuff Sonora\’s offense.

\n

Game 3 against the San Jose Tsunami was a close one, but Davis eventually prevailed, 4-3. Pacciorini started the game with two quick goals and Joe Blakewell took the puck coast to coast to tie the score at 3-3 in the second half. Lee scored the game-winner.

U14 Extreme

\n

Extreme\’s U14 squad, also competed at the event in Antioch.

\n

The locals opened up the tournament by facing the Ripon Jr. Red Tails and earned a 6-2 victory. Danny Kumatas led the scoring with a hat trick and Joe Blakewell, Ryan Kowta and Daniel Rooney had one goal apiece.

\n

Game 2 proved closer but Extreme still came away with a 4-3 win over the Stockton Jr. Thunder. Strong defensive play by Dalton Byard and goalie Terrence Cheeseboro kept the game close, while the offensive combination of Jack Skoog and Kumata kept pressure on the Thunder. Caleb Hermle netted the game-winner off a Ricky Pacciorini slapshot rebound.

In its final match, the team fell to the Delta River Rats, 5-2.

U16 Extreme

\n

The Davis NorCal U16s breezed through their tournament bracket last weekend with a 9-3 win over the River Rats, a 7-2 victory over the Ripon Savage and an 8-1 win over the Stockton Jr. Thunder.
