YoloArts and the California State Summer School for the Arts Foundation have announced Yolo County’s California arts scholars for the 2013 summer session. The 14 students hail from Davis, West Sacramento and Woodland and will be studying creative writing, dance, music (instrument and vocal), visual arts, film and video, animation and theater.

The scholars are Clara Heinicke, Megan Kraft, Ana Christina Kyle, Elisa Nelson, Camila Ortiz, Sean Pendergrass, Megan Robinson, Gregory Shilling-Goins, Jaeger Stone, Pooja Tripathi and Arielle Yoo, all of Davis; Ashley Cotter and Mandy Zheng, of Woodland; and Elena Lipman, of West Sacramento.

The California Summer School for the Arts is a four-week, intensive pre-college program for high school students in the arts, held at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.

At the conclusion of the summer session, the top three students in each discipline — as selected by program faculty — are honored with an “Emerging Young Artist Scholarship” of $40,000 from the Herb Alpert Foundation for collegiate study or pre-professional training programs.
