KVIE’s art curator, D Neath, announced Wednesday that 16 Davis artists — who submitted their art to the annual juried competition — were chosen to be included in KVIE’s Art Auction collection.
Celebrating KVIE Public Television’s 32 years of creating an accessible venue to bring art into the homes of Northern Californians, the KVIE Art Auction will showcase more than 250 works of art by emerging, well-known and world-renown Northern California artists.
Of the 16 pieces by local artists, Cindy Wilson’s ceramic sculpture “Summer Suit” received a curator’s award. The item should air at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 22.
In addition to the juried art, the auction will also include works by master artists Eric Dahlin, Gary Pruner, Gregory Kondos, Kurt Fishback, Larry Welden, Mel Ramos, Sandy Delehanty and Victoria Brooks.
Each artist’s work will be showcased in a live three-day auction broadcast on KVIE (check local listings) that runs from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, and continues from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 -22.
“This year’s winning artworks were chosen through an extensive, in-person jury process from almost 600 total entries,” Neath said. “The jurors did a beautiful job narrowing the collection and selecting the final award-winning works of art. When viewers tune-in, they will agree the art is an outstanding reflection of the talent in our region.”
A complete list of artists juried into the collection is online at kvie.org/artauction. Images and information on every piece of art up-for-bid (including air dates and times) will launch in September.
This year’s auction is sponsored by Wells Fargo, The Niello Company, Mansour’s Oriental Rug Gallery, The Sacramento Bee and Warren G. Bender Co. Proceeds from the event and auction help support KVIE local productions and community outreach services.
