Acme presents free comedy outdoors this weekend

By May 25, 2011

Acme Theatre Company will open its production of “The Servant of Two Masters,” by Carlo Goldoni, on Friday.

The play will be performed Friday through Sunday at the Davis Art Center’s outdoor stage, 1919 F St. All performances will begin at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a picnic dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. Guests are invited to bring their own food or purchase dinner onsite.

Directed by Emily Henderson and Maddy Ryen, “The Servant of Two Masters” follows the ridiculous antics of the ever-hungry Truffaldino, who attempts to serve two masters at once to get a fatter paycheck and a fatter belly.

Little does Truffaldino know that one of the men he serves is really a woman, and has disguised herself in search of her long-lost love, Florindo, who happens to be Truffaldino’s other master.

Full of slapstick mishaps, mistaken identities and true love, “The Servant of Two Masters” is fun for the whole family. Admission is free.
