August Show at YoloArts’ Gallery 625: ‘Watercolor Works’

By From page A9 | August 15, 2013

The watercolor paintings of Jim Painter and the mixed media watercolor landscapes of Michael Mikolon will be exhibited in “Watercolor Works” from Aug. 1 through Sept. 3 at Gallery 625 in the Erwin Meier Administration Building, 625 Court St. in Woodland.

Painter, of Woodland, has won a number of awards for his paintings, most recently the 2007 Curator’s Choice Award from the Pence Gallery in Davis. His work has been described as “finding beauty in tattered lace, bent nails, and memories of what was and what might have been.” This show will feature a selection from 22 paintings.

Mikolon is a full-time artist with a focus on the landscape and figure. He has an extensive career as a freelance illustrator, creating storyboards and illustrations for ad agencies. He has also created and painted large-scale murals, and currently is freelancing as an illustrator and fine artist painting in watercolors and oils.
