Bill Scholer performs at benefit for Japan

By June 24, 2011

Longtime local musician Bill Scholer and his band, Waiting For Bruce, will perform at a concert Saturday, July 9, to benefit victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Scholer plans to move to Japan to join his wife Karla, who is teaching elementary school at a U.S. naval base in Yokosuka.

Funds from the benefit will go to Americans involved with the relief effort and will be used to purchase needed items for residents in the most devastated areas of Japan, Scholer said. He is making arrangements for Debi Dupont, an American teacher who has been active in the relief efforts, to attend the benefit and address those present.

A silent auction also is planned.

The event will run from 7 to 10 p.m. at the John Natsoulas Gallery, 521 First St. in downtown Davis. Admission is $10, payable at the door.
