Bonoff, Gerber to play at The Palms on Thursday

By From page A9 | June 19, 2013

Singer-songwriter-musician Karla Bonoff will showcase all of her abilities alongside guitarist Nina Gerber at 8 p.m. Thursday at The Palms Playhouse in Winters. Tickets are $25.
Bonoff came to national prominence during the late 1970s and into the ’80s. Linda Ronstadt has recorded several of her songs, notably three tracks on the 1976 album “Hasten Down the Wind” — “Someone To Lay Down Beside Me,” “Lose Again,” and “If He’s Ever Near” — which introduced Bonoff to a mass audience. Other songs of hers have been covered, such as “Home” by Bonnie Raitt, “Tell Me Why” by Wynonna Judd and “Isn’t It Always Love” by Lynn Anderson.
In performance and studio, Bonoff weaves acoustic guitar and piano around her vocals. Gerber, described as a guitarist extraordinaire, frequent Bonoff collaborator and longtime favorite at The Palms, will join Bonoff for Thursday’s show on acoustic and electric guitar.
The Palms is at 13 Main St. in Winters. Tickets are available at Armadillo Music in Davis, Watermelon Music in Woodland, Pacific Ace Hardware in Winters and at the door if not sold out. For more information, visit palmsplayhouse.com, karlabonoff.com and ninagerber.com.
