Lellingby Boyce will perform a program titled “A Brief Personal Journey Through African-American Spirituals” as the featured act at the Village Homes Performers’ Circle, Monday, May 26, in Davis.

Boyce’s earliest public performances in Davis focused on African-American spirituals and African-American storytelling. Since then she has presented recitals of art songs and operatic arias, programs of Broadway’s gems, and most recently the classic rock and soul of the 1960s and ’70s.

While interweaving fond memories of her grandmother, Boyce returns to performing African-American spirituals as the Performers’ Circle’s featured act in May. The program will include sing-alongs. Providing supportive accompaniment on keyboards is Davis musician Wendy Silk.

The Village Homes Performers’ Circle is a free event. It features performers of all levels and creative expressions, and is held the fourth Monday of each month (except December) at the Village Homes Community Center, 2661 Portage Bay Ave. East. Sign-up begins at 6:45 p.m., with sign-up performances from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. The featured act performs from 8:30 to 9 p.m.

For more information, call 530-756-3611.
