On Sunday, Oct. 13, the Davis Cemetery and the UC Davis Arboretum will host the fifth annual Celebration of Life Arts Festival at Gallery 1855, 820 Pole Line Road. The open house runs from 1 to 4 p.m. with performances beginning at 2 p.m.
The free festival features live music and poetry performances and includes a non-juried community art show featuring approximately 40 area artists.
Andy Jones, well known as the host of “Dr. Andy’s Poetry and Technology Hour” on KDVS, will read poetry. Following the reading, there will be a live musical performance by Bob Bralove’s Psychedelic Cabaret, featuring Bralove on keyboard and vocals, Robin Sylvester on bass guitar and Dave Amato on guitar.
Music fans will recognize Bralove, who cut his teeth in pop music by programming synthesizers for Stevie Wonder, and later honed his skills with an eight-year stint with the Grateful Dead. Eventually, he became an off-stage performer in the drums and space section of the live shows, after which he went on to form his own bands.
The show in Davis will feature a mixture of original songs and original takes on some rock and roll gems.
“We will not only explore the songs but also the spaces between them,” Bralove said.
