Children’s Hospital to host free concert

By From page A7 | September 04, 2013

The UC Davis Children’s Hospital will host a free concert featuring the band Mumbo Gumbo from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 45th and X streets in Sacramento.

The staff of the trauma and injury-prevention program will hand out free bike helmets for kids. Games, crafts and bounce houses are also planned, and clowns will be on hand. Radio Disney will host an interactive show before the concert, which will feature Mumbo Gumbo’s eclectic, genre-defying mix of danceable sounds from Afropop to zydeco.

Co-hosted by the UCD Health System Community Advisory Board and Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, this year’s concert will be held in conjunction with the health system’s farmers’ market.

Those who attend the alcohol- and smoke-free event may bring blankets and picnic baskets. Free parking will be available in the Shriners garage.
