Commander Cody, the piano-pounding frontman of the legendary Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen and more, returns to The Palms at 8 p.m. Thursday with his current band for a high-energy evening of old favorites and new fare. Tickets are $20.
Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen carved out their own niche in the 1960s with their irresistible combination of rock, boogie-woogie, country, psychedelia and Western swing.
Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen climbed the charts with hits like “Hot Rod Lincoln” and albums such as “Lost In The Ozone,” “Hot Licks, Cold Steel, and Truckers Favorites,” and “Live From Deep In The Heart of Texas” (one of Rolling Stone’s Top 100 albums of all time). In his shows, the Commander draws from this deep catalogue as well as reaching well beyond into boogie-flavored rock, new and old.
Tickets for The Commander Cody Band are available at Armadillo Music in Davis, Watermelon Music in Woodland and Pacific Ace Hardware in Winters, and at the door if not sold out. For more information, call 530-795-1825 or visit palmsplayhouse.com and commandercody.com.
