Davis Chinese Film Festival to kick off with 1994 favorite

An opening ceremony and a screening of the 1994 Chinese favorite “Eat Drink Man Woman” will kick off both Global Confucius Institute Day and the Davis Chinese Film Festival on Sept. 27.

The film, directed by Ang Lee and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1995, gives insight to the tensions between multiple generations of a Chinese family. The event begins at 1 p.m. at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at UC Davis.

Tickets cost $10 for general admision, $5 for children and are free to students with a current student ID. They can be ordered at the Mondavi Center ticket office or at mondaviarts.org.
