The Davis Dance Project will be presented Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8, at the Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop, 2720 Del Rio Place. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday.
Produced by the Pamela Trokanski Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance company in its 29th season, this concert is a combination lecture/demonstration and performance that explores the meanings of dance by examining different elements of movement from the dancers’ perspectives, the purposes behind different dances and seeing finished works in performance.
For the more adventurous members of the audience, there are also opportunities for participation.
In addition to performances by the PTDT and The Third Stage — a multi-generational, contemporary company that works alongside the PTDT — guest artists will be on hand to offer an exploration of a diverse range of dance forms.
As a part of Trokanski’s outreach program, the Davis Dance Project is free for children 12 and younger. However, children must acquire a ticket — for an assigned seat — and be accompanied by a responsible adult. General admission is $12.
Tickets are available, in advance, at the Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop, and at the door 30 minutes before the show. Ticket sales at the door and Dance Workshop are by cash or check only.
