The Davis Shakespeare Ensemble announced its 2012-13 season, which explores the theme of transformation through language and sound with “Macbeth: The Radio Play,” “Nightingale” and “As You Like It.”
“Macbeth: The Radio Play” will be produced as an old-fashioned radio story, where the ensemble aims to create a fully engrossing sonic experience. “Nightingale” will explore language and sound’s impact on movement, and “As You Like It” explores these themes naturally, being one of Shakespeare’s most musical pieces.
Tickets are on sale for “Macbeth: The Radio Play,” which runs Oct. 24 through Nov. 3 at the UC Davis Arboretum Gazebo, 1 Garrod Dr., Davis. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students/seniors and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets for the preview performance on Wednesday, Oct. 24, are $5 off.
This haunting tragedy is just in time to kick off the Halloween season. This original version produced by the Davis Shakespeare Ensemble follows the 1930’s radio-play format, featuring live sound effects and an original score by Richard Chowenhill.
