The Davis Musical Theatre Company will open its 30th anniversary season with “Shrek, The Musical,” on Friday, Sept. 12.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film, “Shrek, The Musical” is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale. “Shrek” brings all the beloved characters from the film to life on stage, and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

DMTC’s production is directed by Steve Isaacson and choreographed by Ron Cisneros, with musical direction by Peter Kagstrom. “Shrek” runs Sept. 12 through Oct. 5, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. and Sundays at 2:15 p.m., at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, 607 Peña Drive.

“Shrek” presents a treasure trove of creative opportunities, including costumes, sets, puppets (there is a very large dragon, after all), and more.

Tickets are $18 general or $16 for students and seniors 55 and over (plus a $2 facility fee for all tickets), and are available at www.dmtc.org, or by calling 530-756-3682.
