Drama students present ‘Stories Under the Big Top’

Harper Junior High School’s seventh- and eighth-grade drama class will present “Stories Under the Big Top” on Friday, May 17. Performances will be at 9:30 a.m. for elementary students, 11:15 a.m. for Harper seventh-graders, 1:30 p.m. for elementary students and 7 p.m. for the community.

Written by Lorraine Thompson, “Stories Under the Big Top” is the lively retelling of stories such as the Lion and the Mouse, the Bremen Town Musicians, the Billy Goats Gruff, the Magic Fish and Monkey See, Monkey Do. It is appropriate for even the youngest theatergoers and includes audience participation.

Students have been working on all aspects of producing a play — sets, props, costumes and publicity — under the direction of Harper teacher Christine Hopper.

“Stories Under the Big Top” will take be performed at the Harper multipurpose room, 4000 E. Cowell Blvd. Admission to the evening performance is $7 general and $5 for children and students with an ASB card.
