From page A7 | March 27, 2013 |

The East-West Guitar Summit featuring Matthew Montfort and Matthew Grasso will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Village Homes Community Center, 2661 Portage Bay Ave. East.

These two master guitar players — with unusual approaches to combining Indian and Western traditions — are versatile musicians and composers, who bring years of experimentation and unusual modifications to their instruments. This concert will be their first collaboration.

Montfort is a world guitar innovator and founder of Ancient Future. He plays a scalloped fretboard guitar.

Grasso, a Davis resident, is a classical and Indian style guitarist and founding member of Trio Seven & Nada Brahma Music Ensemble He plays the 25-stringed raga guitar.

They will be joined by Parteek Bansal on the tabla.

Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.
