By
February 28, 2011 |

The Davis Junior High Orchestras will host an elementary strings workshop from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Emerson Junior High School, 2121 Calaveras Ave. Sign-in and late registration begin at 12:45 p.m. All pre-registered students will receive a T-shirt at the workshop.

Interested parents can register their musicians by e-mail at orchestra.workshop@gmail.com. Provide your child’s name, instrument, grade, years playing and T-shirt size. An e-mail will confirm your registration.

This event is for elementary string players in fifth and sixth grades with two to three years of playing experience. The participants will work individually and in groups with advanced players from the junior high schools, under the direction of Angelo Moreno and Greg Brucker.

The afternoon ends with a concert where the students perform the music learned throughout the day. Information will be provided about the district music program and parents will have the opportunity  to ask questions about the music program at the junior high level.

The workshop is provided free to the community through the support of the Davis Schools Orchestral Music Association.
