Free outdoor dance lesson for kids to precede ‘Gertrude McFuzz’

By From page A11 | May 14, 2013

As a warm-up for the 3 p.m. performance of “Gertrude McFuzz” on Sunday, May 19, by pianist Lara Downes and others in the Mondavi Center’s Jackson Hall, there will be a free event outdoors on the Corin Courtyard on the Mondavi Center’s north side.

Titled “Kids in the Courtyard,” the event will include an introductory dance lesson with Sacramento Ballet’s education and outreach coordinator Vanessa Bautista. The 1:30 p.m. session is tailored for children ages 3-7 and their parents.

Kids will explore and develop their basic motor skills and coordination, while cultivating rhythmic awareness and use of imagination with their participating adult.

All young dancers are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch and enjoy the outdoor seating in the Mondavi Center’s Corin Courtyard prior to the event.
