Usually found hanging and installing other artists’ work, many Yolo County art gallery owners and directors are artists in their own right. The April exhibition at Gallery 625 at the County Administration Building in Woodland will feature the work of two gallery owners, a gallery intern, a gallery board member and a teaching artist representing galleries from throughout Yolo County .

The ceramic works of Robert Schumacher (Schumacher Ceramics, Clarksburg ) and Heidi Bekebrede (Davis Art Center teaching artist) will be featured alongside the metal sculpture of Shaunie Briggs (Briggs & Co., Winters) in this diverse group exhibition. West Sacramento ‘s Gallery 1075 will be represented with the paintings of gallery director Scott Stanley, and the photographs of Laura Nevins, a YoloArts intern, will round out the show.

The exhibit’s opening reception will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, coinciding with Woodland ‘s downtown First Friday Art Walk, and will be attended by the featured artists. At 6 p.m. Renny Pritikin, director of the Nelson Gallery and Fine Arts Collection at UC Davis, will present a lecture on “How to Buy Art,” geared for new and seasoned art collectors.

Gallery 625, in the County Administration Building , 625 Court St. in Woodland, has regular gallery viewing hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. For more information, call YoloArts at (530) 406-4844 or visit http://www.yoloarts.org.
