The highways, trucks, deserts and mountains of California’s Central Valley provide the inspiration for the paintings of Rachel Kline, the artist featured in the upcoming “Roadworks” exhibition at Gallery 625.
Kline grew up in Arizona, where she was influenced by the light, and on coming to the Central Valley found herself moved by both the light and the landscape. Kline combines her abilities as a painter with photography, using photographs to inform her paintings with specific details that the eye might miss.
Kline’s work can be found in public and corporate collections around the country including San Francisco, Chicago and New York City, and her work has been extensively exhibited in Northern California.
The exhibition’s opening reception will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, coinciding with Woodland’s downtown First Friday Art Walk. Kline will be present.
The reception will also feature a guest lecture by Amy Shuman of the Woodland Opera House, who will present “The Art of Theater Production” beginning at 7 p.m. Shuman teaches acting classes for children and adults, and has experience in scenic design, directing, acting and teaching art to children.
