Matthew Grasso invites local residents to his fifth annual celebration of the seven-string guitar, “7-Strings and Beyond,” precisely at 7:07 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, at Watermelon Music, 207 E St. in downtown Davis.

Performers will include:

* Grasso, Matthew Foley and Eric Rasmussen, otherwise known as Trio 7, playing movie themes on extended seven-string guitars;

* Jon Mendle, described as “a young virtuoso,” playing the music of Mertz and Falckenhagen on an 11-string arch guitar;

* Nick Vest, performing a rich, reverberating harp guitar; and

* James Vitiello, a seven-string guitarist and composer, who will present new compositions.

Alan Perlman, a guitar luthier, will talk about the construction of multi-string guitars.

Complimentary 7-Up will be served.

A donation of $7 will be asked at the door. For more information, call (530) 758-4010.
