Gumbo Ya Ya music and food festival planned

Live music, Cajun and Creole foods, a steampunk Mardi Gras procession and the West Coast Gumbo Challenge are planned at the Gumbo Ya Ya celebration from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 28.

The fun takes place at the Yolo County Fairgrounds, 1250 E. Gum Ave. in Woodland.

Music will run the gamut, and feature Carol Manson and the Reggie Graham Trio, Crescent Katz, Element Brass Band, BeaufunK featuring Michael Jeffries from Tower of Power, Zydeco Flames, Zydeco on Our Minds and DJ Joey V.

Children’s activities will include pony rides and a bounce house.

Admission is $15 general and free for children, with food and drinks carrying an additional charge. Tickets are available online through Brown Paper Tickets; at Armadillo Music, 205 F St.; Woodland Chamber of Commerce, 307 First St.; and at the Yolo County Fairgrounds office, 1125 East St.
