The 8-Tracks bring their classic round sound to Picnic in the Park on Wednesday. Music starts at 5 p.m. and is sponsored by the Davis Food Co-op.
Formed in 1996, The 8-Tracks — featuring Jack Brizek, guitar and vocals; Bill Johnson, guitar, keyboards and vocals; Carl Borden (kneeling), bass and vocals; and Mick Voss, drums — also perform at Woodland Farmers Market, the Yolo County Fair, Woodland’s Stroll through History and the Woodland Park and Recreation Concert series. Band members hail from Davis, Woodland, Dixon and Sacramento.
The market is open from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday. Summer season is in full swing with plenty of melons, apricots, nectarines, peaches, plums, greens, corn, avocados, tomatoes, peppers and strawberries plus local eggs, honey, wine, beef and lamb. Crafts are at the north end of Central Park, near Fourth and C streets.
Bring a picnic from home or buy dinner from one of the many vendors. Davis Soroptimists will pour Sudwerk beer and local wine, with proceeds going to local charities.
Children’s entertainment includes Central Park’s bicycle-powered carousel, Rocknasium’s climbing structure, bounce houses, face-painting, pony rides by Greenwich Acres and balloon-maker Dilly Dally the Clown.
