Hear the blues at Thursday Live!

By
From page A9 | January 29, 2014 |

Thursday Live! returns Feb. 6 to begin a new year of live music at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall, 415 Second St. This is a continuing series of free concerts on the first Thursday of each month. The shows start at 7:30 p.m. and are open for all ages to enjoy. Donations are encouraged, with all money going directly to the bands.

The February show features The Hucklebucks and Clarence Van Hook.

Sacramento’s The Hucklebucks — winner of two Sammie Awards for Best Blues Band — play the West Coast blues.

Doug Crumpacker has led the band for 15 years. He is joined by Robert Sidwell (guitar), Jim Monroe (piano), Tim Weber (drums) and Dale Lyberger (bass).

Van Hook will open the show with a completely different style of blues: Southern.

Van Hook has been entertaining audiences in the Bay Area and beyond since the ‘60s. His guitar style is a tasty blend of gumbo, country, gospel and blues.
Thursday Live! is sponsored each month by the Davis Odd Fellows Music and Concert Committee with help from KDRT. For more information, or to be added to the email list, contact Juelie Roggli at juelrog@gmail.com.
