A cappella singing will be in the spotlight at HellaCappella, which will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Mondavi Center at UC Davis.
Presented by The Spokes, UCD’s all-female a cappella group, HellaCappella is a collaboration among a cappella groups of all shapes and sizes.
In honor of The Spokes alumnae who made HellaCappella what it is today, this 10th anniversary show’s lineup includes performances by The Men’s Octet from UC Berkeley, two-time champions of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella; Cloud Nine from UC Santa Cruz; On the Rocks from the University of Oregon, finalists on NBC’s “The Sing-Off” competition; Dil Se from UC Berkeley; the Stanford Harmonics; and The Afterglow from UCD.
For the past decade, HellaCappella’s audience has continued to grow, attracting music lovers across generations from the greater Davis and Sacramento communities. Last year, HellaCappella 2013 sold out the Mondavi Center’s 1,800-plus seats.
Proceeds from the concert will be donated to Women’s Empowerment, an organization with the mission of educating and empowering women who are homeless. Last year’s HellaCappella raised more than $3,500 for Teach For America.
Advance tickets are $15 general and $10 for students, available at www.mondaviarts.org, the Mondavi Center Ticket Office or 530-754-2787. Tickets at the door will be $20 general or $15 for students.
