Indian music concert raises funds for school

By
February 24, 2011 |

An evening of Indian classical music by Ustad Shafaat Khan beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday will raise funds for Sahaya International, a nonprofit based in Davis, to construct a second level on the Mother Teresa School in India. The performer, Ustad (“Maestro”) Shafaat Khan, has distinguished himself by being the first known artist to have attained simultaneous excellence in performing the sitar, surbahar and tabla.

Doors at the International House, 10 College Park, open at 6:30 p.m. There will be a brief intermission with refreshments. A suggested donation is $20 for adults and $10 for children and students. For more information, visit http://www.sahaya.org.
