Indian music spotlighted at I-House

By From page A7 | February 28, 2013

The Nada Brahma Music Ensemble will perform an evening of raga and tala at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the International House, Davis, 10 College Park.

The group’s focus is to discover the common roots of Hindustani and Karnatak music and perform common ragas found in both traditions. All of their music is 95 percent improvised and is manifested in an unusual 25-string raga guitar, veena and tabla.

The ensemble includes Matthew Grasso (25-stringed raga guitar), Raja Sivamani (veena), Parteek Bansal (tabla) and Alex Jenkins (tabla).

There is a suggested donation of $5 to $20, with all proceeds going to the I-House.
