Jazz it up with Tree-O at Davis winery

By From page A14 | August 21, 2013

Sundstrom Hill Winery’s Wine’d Down Thursday will feature Tree-O, a jazz-flavored acoustic string trio from Davis.

Tree-O gives a modern interpretation to Americana string band instrumentation: three voices supported by guitar, mandolin, dobro and bass, always marked by the band’s signature tight arranging, well-crafted vocal harmony and driving accompaniment.

Band members George Haver, guitar; Rick Palkovic, mandolin and dobro; and Jamie Knapp, upright bass; are celebrating the release earlier this year of their second CD, “Count of Days.”

Its music takes listeners on “adventures through tropical rainforests, spiritual ecstasy, twisted drinking songs and tales of haunted bus drivers, airport angst, and coming of age in the city.” The winery, at 2744 Del Rio Place, will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
