Julie and the Jukes bring the classic blues of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, B.B. King, Freddie King, Bessie Smith and Ida Cox to Picnic in the Park from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Central Park, Third and C streets in Davis.
The band, which consists of Julia Simon (bass and vocals), Stan Powell (harmonica), Dan Callnon (drums) and Charles “Chicken Scratch” Oriel (guitar and vocals), plays in clubs and venues throughout the Sacramento area.
The Davis Farmers Market is open from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. It is packed with late-summer and fall fruits and vegetables — berries, peaches, nectarines, melons, corn, tomatoes, green beans, squash and more — plus local eggs, honey, cheeses and wine.
There is plenty of fun for kids, including two playgrounds, Central Park’s bicycle-powered carousel, bounce houses, Rocknasium’s climbing structure, face-painting and balloon-maker Silly Dilly the Clown.
