Pianist Lara Downes, a favorite with Mondavi Center audiences for the past decade, has released a new album titled “13 Ways of Looking at the Goldberg.”
The album begins with J.S. Bach’s opening aria from the “Goldberg Variations,” followed by new variations by highly regarded contemporary composers, including Jennifer Higdon, who won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Music for her violin concerto.
Downes will mark the release of the new album with a CD release celebration at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Crocker Art Museum, 216 O St. in Sacramento. Admission is free with museum admission.
