The dance music of Mercy Me! (Band) will be showcased at the sixth annual outdoor concert Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the lawn next to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The event is sponsored by UC Davis Health System and its Community Advisory Board.
The concert at 45th and X streets free and open to the public. Participants should bring blankets or lawn chairs, and they can pack picnic baskets or purchase food and beverages on site.
Known as Sacramento’s premier dance party band, Mercy Me! (Band) plays R&B, funk and contemporary jazz favorites — from Aretha Franklin to Erykah Badu. The family-oriented, alcohol-free and smoke-free event includes a kids’ zone with games, bounce houses, crafts and other fun activities. The UC Davis Trauma Prevention Program will provide free helmets and helmet fittings to help children play safe during bicycling, skateboarding and other sports on wheels.
“The annual concert has become one of our favorite ways of celebrating our pride in the health system and its strong connections to the community,” said Susan Gamage, chair of the UCD Health System Community Advisory Board. “We encourage families and friends join us for some great music and summer fun.”
