The dance company known as Momix — known for their multimedia shows combining modern choreography, colorful costumes, theatrical lighting and music to create intricate visual illusions and stylish tableaux — will return to the Mondavi Center on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m.
Featured will be a program called “Botanica,” which proved so popular when it visited the Mondavi Center in 2011 that these encore performances were booked. “Botanica” depicts all manner of plants and creatures in different phases of nature’s changing seasons, as well as the recurrent cycle of night and day, including scenes titled “The Dead of Winter,” “Loons Laugh in Darkness,” “Last Leaf Catches The First Snow Fall,” “Meet the Beetles” and more.
The program incorporates music composed by Antonio Vivaldi — a selection drawn from his ubiquitous violin concerto set “The Four Seasons,” of course — arty pop songs by Peter Gabriel, bird songs recorded in the wild, and so on.
Tickets start at $25 and are available at www.mondaviarts.org or 530-754-2787.
