Prior to Wednesday’s 8 p.m. performance by the SFJAZZ Collective inside the Mondavi Center, there will be a free 6:30 p.m. performance in the outdoor Corin Courtyard, adjacent to the box office, by the Mondavi Center SF Jazz High School All-Stars. The group features several of the Sacramento region’s most talented teenage jazz players.

The High School All-Stars’ lineup includes three members who are new to the group this year:¬†Elias Lucero, guitar (Rodriguez High School, Fairfield); Dexter Williams, bass (El Camino Fundamental High School, Sacramento); and Carson Messer, drums (Folsom High School).

They join returning members Jeric Rocamora, trumpet (Rio Americano High School); Joey Cozza, piano (Folsom High School); Lucas Bera, saxophone (Rio Americano High School); and Emery Mesich, saxophone (Folsom High School).

The group rehearses under Mike McMullen, who is a founding member of the Capital Jazz Project and a jazz studies faculty member at Sacramento State.
