Cirque Mechanics — a touring company inspired by the modern circus, with a charming dash of American rawness — finds its roots in the mechanical and its heart in the stories of American ingenuity. Its performances are rooted in realism, presenting stories wrapped in circus acrobatics, mechanical wonders and a bit of clowning around.

Their program at the Mondavi Center at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, is “Birdhouse Factory,” a nostalgic tale set in a 1930s Depression-era widget factory, featuring gadgets that were inspired in part by Charlie Chaplin’s film “Modern Times” and by the illustrations of Rube Goldberg.

Tickets are $25-$54 general, $$12.50-$27 for students, available at www.mondaviarts.org or 530-754-2787.
