Pianist Charlie Albright — who has performed several times in recent years with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and also has appeared with several orchestras — will present a recital at the Mondavi Center’s Vanderhoef Studio Theatre at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. The 24-year-old Albright grew up in Washington state, then entered the Harvard College/New England Conservatory of Music joint program, where he completed his bachelor’s degree as a pre-med and economics major at Harvard in 2011. He is pursuing a master of music degree in piano performance at the New England Conservatory of Music.
Albright won the Young Artist Competition in 2009, and the Gilmore Young Artist Award in 2010 (past winners include Yuja Wang, 2006, who has since performed twice at the Mondavi Center). Albright’s program includes music by Schubert, Beethoven and Chopin. Tickets are $35 general, $17.50 students, available at www.mondaviarts.org or 530-754-2787. The concert is technically sold out, but a few turned-back tickets typically become available at the box office on the day of the performance.
